Sip and Sound at the Orchard POSTPONED till October 7 Elana Bell and Ben Brown call this sound offering HOME as an opportunity to return to yourself and your body. We use various instruments including singing bowls, drums, gongs, tuning forks, and voice to create a vibrational healing experience. With the demands of daily life, we can struggle to take care of and allow our whole being to show up fully present and alive. We use sound to shift consciousness and perspective to acknowledge that no matter what's going on, you still have a safe and central place of peace within. We call this space Home. Ben Brown seeks the intersection of mediums that provide a haven from social-emotional isolation and supports our adaptive capabilities to self-soothe and heal. Much of his work comes from the impulse to create more space in the nervous system and body through vibrational frequencies that connect us to our ancestral wisdom and being. Ben is a sound practitioner, NYS-licensed massage therapist, and visual artist. https://www.handandtemple.com Elana Bell is a poet, sound practitioner, and creative guide. She facilitates artistic rituals and processes that support people in accessing their authentic voice and alchemizing raw experience and emotion into artistic expression. Elana holds a certification in Sound and Music Integration from the New York Open Center’s Sound and Music Institute and leads one-on-one and group Sacred Sound Journeys using a variety of instruments and voice to support participants in tapping into a deep state of relaxation and healing, allowing space to release emotions and open the creative channel.www.elanabell.com
Sip and Sound at the Orchard October 14 Come join Katie Down, sound artist, music therapist, Deep Listening practitioner and sonic cultivator on Saturday, Oct. 14th for a special sound meditation and sound walk through the orchard at 2pm, starting under the ancient white oak on the hill. Katie will be guiding us in a slow, meditative sound walk with or without the use of blindfolds (up to you!) to slow down, listen to our environment and ourselves in it, learn how to deeply listen through movement, touch, smell, and taste. Katie has been taking people on sensory sound walks for many years and each time is a new adventure in listening. The blindfolds are actually called Mindfolds, which are meditation masks with eye sockets for maximum comfort as you can have your eyes wide open and still see nothing...at least nothing "visible!" Walkers will be taken through a carefully curated walk through the orchard for an hour and this will be split into 30-minute segments in which each partner switches who is the leader and who is led. Katie teaches everyone how to guide each other carefully and with ease for an optimal listening experience. After the walk, we will go down to the tasting room for a delicious treat of ciders and snacks. Katie Down is a sound artist, music therapist, and adjunct professor of music therapy at SUNY New Paltz. Her private practice is Sound Well Creative Arts Therapy, PLLC which is based in the Hudson Valley and NYC offering somatic psychotherapy, trauma-informed care, creative arts therapies and EMDR. Katie is based in Ulster County where she provides space and opportunities for workshops in healing with sound, movement, and artistic inquiry. www.soundwellcenter.com
